NEWSLETTER 4TH Quarter AGENDA FOR MEETINGS Article 43 and Letter sent to Former Techs Dress Code Management Doing Your Work Attendance Policy Compensation Cases and How They Should Be Handled We will be holding our General Membership Meetings for Connecticut and White Plains. The Connecticut Meeting will take place Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The White Plains Meeting will take place Monday, September 13, 2004 at the White Plains Presbyterian Church across from the upper parking lot. It has been brought to my attention that the National has sent letters out to former Comm. Techs regarding variable work force. Even though we still have a full force and the company is putting out ads for techs in the new position, the national and the company are looking to start hiring for the variable work force. We have met several times and discussed the new dress code the company has been trying to implement. Management says they have a right to impose this dress code. We say they do not and it is in the contract. Our only obligation is that our clothes be neat and clean. We thank you for all the grievances you have filed regarding management doing your work. Because of those of you who filed grievances, management should no longer be doing your work. They have been told to stop. We haven’t really discussed the new attendance policy with management as I am trying to locate the company policy regarding lateness and absences. They do have a program that involves steps and they also have an agreement with the national regarding the program. A few or our members were unfortunate enough to have accidents on the job and are out on disability. If anything happens to you, be sure to call the Local so we can tell you what paperwork you have to submit and who you have to speak to. If you have anything to add to the agenda, please call and leave the information on the answering machine. If you do not get a call back, please contact any Union rep, and they will get it to us. In Unity Mary Lou |
